To get an idea of the value of a soul, listen to a question asked by Jesus: “What good is it for a man to gain the whole world, yet forfeit his soul?” The apostle Peter wrote, “For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your forefathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect.” Most people have no idea of their soul’s value, so many are willing to throw it away for a cheap thrill or a temporary pleasure. That is the empty life Peter was talking about. You are someone special. God created you in His own image and likeness. He knows you by name and He loves you. God loved you enough to come to earth in flesh to die for you. That should be evidence enough of just how valuable you are!
