When Jesus was captured in the garden of Gethsemane, His followers quickly abandoned him. Three days later, we find the apostles gathered in a house behind locked doors, shaking in their sandals. Just one week earlier, when Jesus was in their midst, they were cool, calm, and contented. But, with Christ crucified, they are uncertain and fearful. “Then the same day at evening… came Jesus and stood in the midst, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you.” (John 20:19)
A major theme in the New Testament is Jesus in the midst - wherever and whenever He is needed – and this is key to the Christian life, because only Jesus in our midst can give us peace. This lesson helps Christians recognize the necessity of allowing God to be central to every aspect of their lives. Approximate running time: 10 min.
