Though people appear to be held in bondage by their circumstances there is always an underlying spiritual cause. If we do not look beyond the outward appearance of a situation, it is easy to despair. The Apostle Paul reminds us in his epistle to the Ephesians that, “We do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the ruler of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places” (Ephesians 6:12.) The real fight is against fear and unbelief.
