Breaking the yoke of addiction will NOT be easy, but it is possible because all things are possible through Christ who strengthens us. The primary reason people are not delivered from their addictions is that they are unwilling to crucify the flesh with the affections and lusts thereof. Each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed. Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin, and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death. No disease concept here. Addiction is a condition of the heart, a sin that needs to be repented of. Addiction is the essence of being drawn away by your own lusts. It is not a genetic flaw. It is enslavement to a particular desire of the flesh.
